Mrs. Jesca Kweyamba Robina – Chairperson
Mrs. Kweyamba is the current senior manager Treasury for National Insurance Corporation (NIC) and has held this position for the last 6 years. She entered employment while she worked at Cooperative Bank from 1988 -1999 handling budgets, payrolls and fixed asset registry and then moved on to (NIC) 2003 joining the audit department where she acquired strong internal audit and control skills that later had her promoted to the head of the department in 2004. Her role as the senior manager she has overseen the recovery of company funds from defaulting policy holders and drafted the company’s current investment policy. From 2009 -2011 as head of the accounts and finance departments, she chaired the debt collection committee that prepared a credit policy and started a credited unit meant to follow up outstanding debt and in the end reduced the company’s exposure to bad debts by 15%. Mrs. Kweyamba holds a Bachelors of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University and various certificates that include ACCA stage 2 certificates and a certificate in Oak Seed Executive Leadership Program from the Institute for National Transformation. She currently seats on the board of the Finance Committee of Uganda Insurers Association and boards of the Audit and Investment Committees of National Insurance Corporation (NIC).
Mr. Anil Patel – Board Member
Mr. Patel is an experienced accountant and the Managing Partner of the reputable audit firm Grant Thornton Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, a CPA (U) and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chatered Accountants of India. He specializes in tax and specialist advisory services. He has assisted a couple of multinational companies and high growth local companies in managing their tax risks, planning, compliance and disputes. He is a specialist in taxes ranging from compliance, structuring, due diligence and tax law interpretation. Mr. Patel is a member of the Marketing Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and a director of Integrity Club of Uganda that was set up to promote and encourage integrity and character competence.
Mr. Mark Kohler – Board Member
Mr. Mark Kohler is the current managing director of ROKO Construction Limited for, Uganda, Rwanda and Southern Sudan. He holds dual citizenship of Swiss/British and is conversant in German, English, Italian and French. He obtained his Master Degree (with distinction) in Business Administration from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2002. Mr. Kohler is well vast in cash flow planning and budgeting, procurement and human resource selection. His current job requires of him to manage simultaneous operational projects and is able to develop software modules for real estate valuation by the use of discounted cash flow methods. In 1998 to 2002, Mr. Kohler was first employed by the Federal Technical University in Zurich working as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Seiler before moving on to work for one year as an IT consultant for Inter Dialog Software AG. In 2005 Mr. Kohler moved to Price water house Coopers and worked for one year as the firm’s assistant manager in the Treasury & Risk Management Group. In 2006, he moved to Uganda to work with ROKO Construction Limited as the Chief Administrative Officer and then in 2010 was promoted to the role of Commercial Director for the firm. In 2012, he rose to the helm of the ROKO Construction Limited as the company’s Managing Director.
Hon. J.S Mayanja Nkangi – Board Member
Hon. J.S Mayanja Nkangi is a long seasoned and experienced barrister and politician. He obtained his degree in the Bachelor of Arts (second class) from the University of London in 1953. From 1954 – 1957, he went to Keble College, University of Oxford and read Philosophy, Politics and Economics specializing in monetary Economics and Public Finance. He obtained degrees of Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Arts from Oxford University. From November of 1957 – 1959, he read law at Lincoln’s Inns of Court, London and qualified as a Barrister- at – Law. He started his professional career practicing Law as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and the subordinate courts. He too served as the Leader of the United Party (1960) and it’s Secretary General of the party when it was re organized. Hon. Mayanja Nkanji has held a series of ministerial posts, first was the Minister Without Portfolio (Ministry of Economic Affairs) in 1962, Minister of Commerce and Industry from 1963 – 1964. He served as the Katikkiro (Prime Minster) of Buganda Kingdom from 1964 – 1966. He was forced into exile by the Coup d’etat by Dr. Milton Obote, but continued to serve and exercise the functions of the Katikiiro of Buganda until the restoration of the Kingdom in 1993. While in exile he became a Research Fellow from the University of Lancaster (Department of Economics) and was one of the University’s lecturers majoring in Monetary Economics from 1968 – 1971. In 1985 – 1986, he served as the Minister of Labour Government, and then served as the Minister of Education from 1986 – 1989. He then served in the capacity of Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development from 1992 to 1998. His last ministerial position was in 1998 – 2002 as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. Hon. J.S Mayanja Nkanji has served as the Member of Parliament for Kalungu East Constituency from 1962 – 1964 and again from 1996 – 2001. He is currently the Chairman of the Uganda Land Commission.
Ms. Neha Pandya Dave – Board Member
Neha Pandya Dave has served as part of the senior management of the International Law Institute-African Center for Legal Excellence in Kampala, Uganda since July 2009, most recently appointed as Senior Director- International Initiatives. On behalf of ILI-ACLE, she sits on the Committee on Legal Education and Training of the Uganda Law Council. In 2014, Ms. Pandya was selected amongst rising social entrepreneurs and social change leaders across East African as an Acumen East Africa Fellow. She has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Action for Fundamental Change and Development (AFFCAD), Uganda. Prior to moving to Uganda, Ms. Pandya worked as an Associate in the Employment and Labor Law practice group at Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her Juries Doctor from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics Policy and Metropolitan Studies, with honors, from New York University.
Mr. Rajnish Jain – Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Raj. Jain is the current Managing Director of Yako Micro finance and holds an MBA in International Finance, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona, USA, and ranked 1st in International Management by Financial Times, Wall Street and US News, holds an M. S. in Computer Science, Monmouth University, New Jersey, USA and a B. S. in Computer Engineering from India. Raj Jain has worked in different capacities as a senior financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch, San Francisco, California, USA (2005-2006). He served as the Client Relations Manager – Consumer Solutions Group at JDA Software Group Inc. Scottsdale, Arizona, USA (2003-2004). In (1995-2002), he was the engagement Manager at Compuware Corporation, Farmington Hills, Michigan and in (1993-1995) he was a senior Systems Analyst at Detroit Edison – Fermi II, Monroe, Michigan, USA (1993-1995).
Mr. Anchal Kumar Sinha – Executive Director
Mr. Anchal Kumar Sinha holds a B. A. in Mathematics (Hons) from Patna University – India. He worked for Bank of Baroda for 30 years and retired at a position of Joint Manager. Mr.Anchal Kumar Sinha worked also as Special Correspondent in Manager. (Delhi & Mumbai) in charge of Economic / Commerce Page of the News Paper, worked as a Senior Reporter in Business Bhaskar, a daily business newspaper from Dainik Bhaskar Group, conducted a study on Micro finance in India and wrote series in Business Bhaskar and wrote on Economics, Social and Political topics for the last 25 years on various Hindi Journals like; Jansatta; Amar Ujala; Rashtriya Sahara; India today; Dharmayug; Ravivar and Dinman; and many other magazines. He also worked as Stringer for “Nav Dharat Times” and Hindustan – Patna. He also published and edited one Hindi monthly magazine “IS MAHINA” for more than six months with design and Lay outs. He was also regular weekly columnist in Lokmat samachar from Delhi during 1993-1994. Mr. Anchal Kumar Sinha is expertise in strategic Planning/Retail Banking, Rural Management and Operations, Customer Relationship Management, and Credit Administration and Operations.
